Color Digital Proofs
Color Digital Proofs are inkjet proofs printed on either inkjet papers or actual paper specified for printing. Color accuracy is limited due to different inks. Pantone or solid colors are only matched with process colors (CMYK). Line art and type appear heavier than will be printed. They are the most inexpensive and quickest to output compared to the following proof types.
Color Digital Wet Proofs
Color Digital Wet Proofs are a specially calibrated dot proof, a halftone proof, printed on a “high end” ink jet system on the actual paper specified for printing. They have the original dots of digital film, without plate-making, to make a more color accurate proof of the final printed sheet. Pantone or solid colors are only matched with process colors (CMYK). Mid price range, faster to produce than Color Wet Proofs
Color Wet Proofs
Color Wet Proofs are the best proofs for critical color. They are produced from the actual plate, paper and ink to be used for printing. Color is very accurate with final printing, and easiest to match on press. Color Wet Proofs are the only proofs that use true Pantone or solid colors for proofing. Best when multiple proofs are required. This proof is the most expensive and slowest to produce.
